     I grew up in Shelby County and attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham for both my undergraduate education and my Doctorate in Optometry, while working at UAB in the Emergency Department and Cardiothoracic Surgery. In addition, I received extensive training in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of vision problems and ocular diseases in my clinical and hospital rotations. After practicing in Georgia, South Carolina and Childersburg, my wife Kim and I returned to settle and raise our children in Chelsea. I enjoy special interests in pediatric vision and complicated contact lens fittings, along with ocular disease analysis and co-management. Having been in health care now for over 40 years, 30 of those in Optometry, I am excited to offer you my expertise in eye health and vision care.

     Our modern office is equipped with state-of-the-art eye instrumentation. The detail and quality of the eye exam at Hayes Eye Center is second to none and important to your continued good health. To make sure that you receive the best care, I regularly attend education seminars to constantly fine tune my skills and knowledge.   My professional affiliations include the Alabama Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and the Birmingham Area Optometric Society—all of which I have served in a leadership position. I am certified by the International Association of Boards and Examiners in Optometry and I daily co-manage patients with physicians and eye care specialists across Alabama and beyond.
